AFC North Power Rankings: Week 9

facebooktwitterreddit

What a win, huh?  It helps that the two teams who were ranked above the Steelers last week played each other so one of them had to lose.  If the Steelers are able to pull out a win at home against the Ravens on Sunday night, a game which I will be going to, then they have a very good chance to return to the top of the rankings in next week’s edition.

More from Steelers News

4. Cleveland Browns (4-3)

Last Week: 4

This is just a testament to how good the AFC North has been this season that the worst team in the division is 4-3.  That being said they did lose to the Jaguars two weeks ago and only pull out a 10 point win against the Raiders last week.  That may seem a little picky but the Raiders have been BAD this season.  Now putting the nitpicking behind us the Browns would probably be second in plenty other division in the NFL, save the AFC West, NFC North, NFC East, and NFC West.

3. Cincinnati Bengals (4-2-1)

Last Week: 2

Yes, last week the Bengals won against the team in first.  But they have also been one of the worst teams in the NFL over the past three weeks.  The Steelers also won convincingly over a Colts team who destroyed the Bengals two weeks ago.  If the Bengals rebound from the recent few weeks and carry over the momentum from the victory over the Ravens, then they should move back up the rankings.  For now, though, they are stuck in the third spot.

2. Pittsburgh Steelers (5-3)

Last Week: 3

If you had told me the Steelers would win that convincingly against the Colts a week ago I would have called you crazy.  Well, it happened.  And now in two weeks I have gone from hoping for a top 10 pick and a complete rebuild of the front office and high level coaching staff to looking forward to the realistic possibility of the Steelers returning to the playoffs.  A Sunday night football game against the Ravens at home is about as perfect of a scenario as you could have for the Steelers to finally show that they are in fact the best team in the AFC North.

1. Baltimore Ravens (5-3)

Last Week: 1

Yeah I know that the Ravens lost last week against the Bengals and they didn’t play well.  But over the course of the season they have definitely been the best team in the division.  They will have a chance to prove that and assert their dominance as the best team in the division this Sunday.  If they can win and the Bengals lose then the Ravens will be, to me at least, clearly the best team in the AFC North.  I think that the offense has been over performing so far, but the defense sure has the ability to live up to the standards it has set.
