ESPN Steelers reporter Scott Brown checked out the game tame from Sunday’s win over Indianapolis. He points out the biggest item needing fixing from what the footage shows. Doesn’t take a detective to figure out that the biggest fix the Steelers need is in the secondary. The regression of Cortez Allen this season has been painful at times to watch and even with all the good things happening on Sunday in the win, Allen was still a sore spot. He gave up two touchdowns and was yanked from the game in favor of Antwon Blake, who then intercepted Andrew Luck in the fourth quarter to essentially preserve the Steelers victory. Brown thinks that Allen is either not adjusting to the league’s obvious attention to illegal contact by defensive backs or he’s grabbing opponents because he’s not confident in his techniques. Perhaps some time on the sideline watching how it’s done might do him some good anyway.
Steelers rotating inside linebackers
As Mike Tomlin explained in his Tuesday presser, the Steelers welcomed back Ryan Shazier from knee injury but still limited his snap counts as they’re in the midst of a rotation for the inside linebackers while Shazier returns to 100%. Teresa Varley explains that Shazier will continue to share reps with Vince Williams and Sean Spence, while Lawrence Timmons rotates around on either side depending on the defensive formation called. Also probably depending on where on the field Timmons recently puked chunks all over.
Harbaugh: Ravens comfortable at Heinz
Alan Robinson of the Trib tells us that Ravens coach John Harbaugh is just fully stoked to be coming back to Heinz Field on Sunday night, where the Ravens are 3-5 during his tenure, including two playoff losses.
"“We’re very comfortable in that rivalry. We’re very comfortable in that stadium. We understand what it takes to win there. We’ve won there. We’ve lost there. We’ve been in great games there. So, we’ll be there. We’ll be there right on time. We’re not really thinking about them as much as we are thinking about how we play. We need to play to win the game.” – John Harbaugh"
Remember, though, when the Ravens weren’t so comfortable playing at Heinz Field at night? I think it’s about time we remind these jagoffs why they don’t like it there.
