Slow down buddy

Apparently Marc Sessler of Around the NFL picked the Pittsburgh Steelers before the season began as his Super Bowl pick and reaffirmed his pick again with his midseason “second half bold prediction”. He states that the Steelers, with Ben Roethlisberger’s offensive weapons can be dangerous enough to take down Peyton Manning’s Broncos for the AFC title and win the Super Bowl. Slow down. I’m just as optimistic as the next homer and especially after witnessing that offensive clinic they put on last week first hand but this team has been feast or famine all season long so far and in spite of just winning their first back-to-back games, well that’s it, they just won their first back-to-back games. Slow down on the Super Bowl predictions for now. Of course with a win tonight over Baltimore, it’s friggin on!

AFC North: Team to Beat

Well, it’s up for grabs it seems. “The Aftermath Crew” of the NFL Network debated the AFC North, the only division in the NFL where all four teams are over .500. Virtually unheard of for a division featuring the Cleveland Browns, but hey, the NFL season is crazy sometimes. The panel was just about evenly split over which team the edge to take the division crown, except no one has really endorsed the Browns’ chances to win the division outright. One misguided fellow still thinks the Ravens have a shot to win the division in spite of being swept by the Bengals. True that the Steelers don’t play the Bengals until much later this season but it just seems highly a highly unlikely outcome should the Steelers take care of business tonight.

Steelers vs. Ravens: Behind the Numbers

ESPN Steelers reporter Scott Brown breaks down tonight’s matchup in terms of key numbers you might want to think about. The first one that is the most striking is (4), which is the number of times the Ravens have won over the Steelers in prime time games consecutively. Another important number is (29); the number of games where Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger has thrown at least three touchdown passes. Let’s home to add to that number tonight.
