Haley and Roethlisberger working some magic together

Ed Bouchette of the PPG wants to know who wants to talk about the Ben Roethlisberger and Todd Haley relationship now? There was a time when that was the majority of the questions being asked to either one, particularly during the early part of the season when the Steelers offense was putting up impressive stats, but not backing those stats up with touchdowns. In the last two games, without running any no-huddle, Roethlisberger has gone 65 of 86 for 862 yards, 12 touchdowns, no interceptions, and a 146.1 passer rating. The Steelers offense has scored 85 of the teams 94 points the past two weeks as well. Pretty magical stuff indeed. Oh, and that red-zone offense, they’re eight of nine when getting inside the twenty yard line the past two weeks as well.

Midseason MVP

It would be a pretty fun debate to have over who you’d think deserves to be the Steelers team MVP at this point. ESPN Steelers reporter Scott Brown gives Antonio Brown the nod over Ben Roethlisberger. I’d like to think that this is the season that the team finally votes Roethlisberger as the MVP; he’s having an NFL MVP-type season at this point. Brown’s biggest disappointment at midseason is obviously cornerback Cortez Allen, who signed a five-year, $25 million extension before the season began, leads the team with two interceptions but played only one snap last week against Baltimore because aside from those interceptions he’s pretty much a liability on the field.

On to the Jets

The New York Jets have a special way of making an already bad team look and perform even worse. Since their days of consecutive AFC Championship Game appearances it’s just been a series of hilariously embarrassing downhill moments for the franchise. Conor Orr of Around the NFL explains that things are getting a bit more testy between fans and the organization this week as there’s not only a billboard funded by fans calling for the firing of GM John Idzik, but a plane circled the Jets’ practice facility on Wednesday with a banner containing the same sentiment. Fun stuff.
