Ben Roethlisberger Doesn’t Blame Bieber, Harrison FB, Ramon Foster on Mitchell

The Steelers will try to rebound from what was quite possibly their worst loss of the season against the New York Jets and go on the road for a Monday night matchup against the Tennessee Titans. Ben doesn’t blame the Biebs

Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger had his weekly spot on 93.7 The Fan and he addressed the Bieber Curse that struck the Steelers on Sunday after Justin Bieber visited the Steelers’ team hotel on Saturday night during their bible study. Roethlisberger laughed off the idea that the Biebs cursed the team or that it was a big deal at all that the team had an outside visitor at all.

"“That’s not a big deal at all. For instance, Plaxico Burress stopped by. Obviously he is family. He is a Steeler and stuff like that. People stop by all of the time and want to say hi. We’ve had other athletes, other celebrities, actors and actresses. It’s not a big deal at all.” – Ben Roethlisberger"

All the selfies were a bit much though.

James Harrison on offense

Mike Tomlin was also asked about James Harrison and why he was in an offensive play in a goal line situation against the Jets on Sunday. Harrison lined up at the fullback position in a play that clearly didn’t work out as planned. According to Teresa Varley, it’s something the Steelers have been practicing with James.

"“James has been practicing at short yardage and goal line fullback for a number of weeks. We actually ran it out there at a home game a couple of weeks ago but there was a stoppage in play, we chose to go to another play and didn’t execute it. James is a talented guy. He likes running down the center of people. That’s an asset that can be valuable to us in short yardage and goal line and is. We’re going to utilize it. That scenario and play or plays he was in there specifically didn’t unfold in a positive manner like we intended for it to do. That’s why we work. We’ll keep working to utilize these guys in areas where they can help us even its outside of the norm.” – Mike Tomlin"

Ramon Foster on Mitchell’s dive

Steelers guard Ramon Foster spoke with 93.7 The Fan as well on Tuesday and was asked his opinion on the very controversial play at the end of the game where Mike Mitchell dove at the Jets’ victory formation. Foster wasn’t shy about voicing his displeasure of Mitchell’s decision on that play.

"“The game was decided at that point. I like Mike Mitchell as a player, but as far as like him personally, if you look at him jump over the line, it looked bad. He landed hard, he landed awkward. You got to take safety into consideration when you’re dealing with that type of thing. What if he had fell on the back on one of those offensive linemen’s legs? It’s hard to replace a lineman that you’re in a group with. So Coach Tomlin talked to him about it. That’s one thing we’ve got to be smart about, and not go down that lane. We lost- you’ve got to take your loss with dignity.” – Ramon Foster"
