Injuries keep young defense sidelined

Alan Robinson of the Trib reminds us how much younger the Steelers defense was supposed to be this season. Instead of Brett Keisel and James Harrison being the biggest playmakers, we were supposed to be talking about Jarvis Jones and Ryan Shazier. Unfortunately, both have been sidelined by injuries and haven’t made much of an impact so far this season. Jarvis Jones could be close to returning now that he has his cast off but the impact he could make with just six games remaining could be minimal. Shazier, on the other hand, keeps getting hampered by one injury or another. First it was a sprained MCL for Ryan and now it’s an ankle injury keeping him from the action.

Polamalu’s Polynesian Luau

Troy Polamalu and his wife, Theodora, hosted their annual charity event, a Polynesian Luau to raise funds for veterans. Polamalu and his wife work with an organization called Operation Once in a Lifetime, which works similar to the Make a Wish Foundation for veterans and their families. You can watch about the event right here.
