Le’Veon Bell Steelers Digest Player of the Week

Steelers RB Le’Veon Bell  became the fourth running back in Steelers history to rush for 200+ yards in a game, earning him Digest Player of the Week honors, according to Bob Labriola. Bell ran for 204 yards and 33 carries and also contributed 18 yards with two receptions and a rushing touchdown in the Steelers 27-24 win over the Titans. The Steelers obviously saw a weakness in the Titans run defense and proceeded to exploit it, particularly on the final drive where they held onto the ball for the final seven minutes of the game running essentially the same play over and over again, ensuring victory.

Blount Out

LeGarrette Blount could be on his way out in Pittsburgh after he most certainly will be facing some kind of discipline for his early departure from the Steelers’ 27-24 win on Monday Night. ESPN’s Scott Brown reports that Blount was unhappy with his lack of touches in the game and departed the field early, something which was definitely noticed by his teammates. Blount hasn’t really been that big of a contributor to the offense so far this season, mostly due to the outstanding play by Le’Veon Bell, his counterpart. Seems like he should be a little more stoked that his buddy and his team are succeeding and less pissy about not getting the ball enough.

Steelers Report Card

It’s time for the Steelers report card. Gerry Dulac of the PPG hands out grades after every Steelers performance and this one, while a win, still only garnered an average overall grade. He gave the team as a whole a C+ as well as Ben Roethlisberger, who’s first half interception definitely took points off of the board for the Steelers. He graded the offensive line a B after giving up 5 sacks on Ben Roethlisberger, they settled down and provided the outstanding blocking needed for Bell to rack up his historic numbers on the night. The defensive line and linebackers got a C+ and D, respectively as neither unit was able to get to the rookie quarterback, Zach Mettenberger. He was only hit once and not sacked the entire game.
