AFC North Power Rankings: Week 12

Don’t think I’m being cliche when I say that this division is almost too close to rank right now.  No team wants to pull away from the pack right now.  That’s why this week’s rankings aren’t an exact science.  Hopefully this week brings more clarity.

56. The team that is in first place in the division is last place in the power rankings.  Yes, I do know that that isn’t normal.  Even though they are in first they still have been the most inconsistent team in the division this year.  It’s not that they have been more up and down than the Steelers have, but their lows have been so so low.  If they were to slip into a rut for two or three weeks then their season would be over.  The teams are so close right now that it’s hard to separate them, so you could honestly make an argument for the Bengals to be in first.  For right now they stay in the basement, but that’s not that bad of a thing when you’re in the AFC North.. 6-3-1. Previous: 4th. Cincinnati Bengals. 4. team

7-4. Previous: 3rd. Pittsburgh Steelers. 3. team. 55. I said I wasn’t going to move them no matter what happened, so I’m not going to move them.  Even though they got a win on Monday night, they still only beat the two win Titans by 3 points.  It’s better than their consistent losses to sub-par teams, though.  If they can string wins together at the end of the season on their pretty easy schedule then I will move them up.  But right now in a division that could very well be considered the best in the league, their inconsistency doesn’t cut it.  The second half looked much better than the first on Monday night, but I don’t think performances like the first half are going to disappear.

53. The Browns took a very hard loss to the Texans on Sunday.  But don’t think of the Texans like last year’s version.  They have one of the better all around rosters in the AFC this season.  If you took even a decent starting quarterback and put them on the Texans I think they would be in first in the AFC South, but that’s beside the point.  The point is, I don’t think the loss to the Texans is as devastating as it could be for the Browns.  If they can get back on track they still have a shot at playoffs.  They did show their lack of elite talent against the Texans, though.  But let’s not forget <strong><a href=. 6-4. Previous: 1st. Cleveland Browns. 2. team

6-4. Previous: 2nd. Baltimore Ravens. 1. team. 26. Having the Ravens in first isn’t ideal, but because of they way the rankings worked out that’s where they end up.  They seem to be getting somewhat forgotten about even though they were looking very good before games against the Steelers and the Bengals.  They even looked really good after the Steelers’ game when they beat down the Titans.  If the can regain the form they had at the beginning of the season, then I think they would be the clear front runners for the division title.  They could also very well end up in last place if they don’t regain form after the bye week.  That’s just how close the AFC North is right now
