Josh Harris’ potential
During Mike Tomlin’s Tuesday presser, he was asked about his confidence in the running back corps behind Le’Veon Bell, now that LeGarrette Blount has been released. The Steelers promoted Josh Harris from the practice squad, and Tomlin says he won’t hesitate using him because of his inexperience.
"“Since Josh’s been here he’s been a guy on a steady incline. He’s improved day-to-day. He’s a big time competitor. He’s a finisher. He’s done some nice things. We look forward to watching him maybe do it in a stadium.” – Mike Tomlin"
Ben better than Brees?
When the Steelers face Drew Brees and the New Orleans Saints on Sunday, they’ll be facing one of the most prolific passers in NFL history, as reminded by ESPN’s Scott Brown. But, there is one passing category in which Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger outranks Drew Brees. Roethlisberger is averaging 7.85 yards per passing attempt for his career, which is ranked fourth among active quarterbacks and is ahead of Drew Brees at 7.50 yards per attempt. This season, Roethlisberger is averaging 7.92 yards per pass attempt and is tied with Peyton Manning and Andrew Luck for most passing plays that have covered at least 25 yards. Guess they’re not all screens, huh?
Vets back in action
Mark Kaboly of the Trib explains how veterans Ike Taylor and Troy Polamalu returning from their injuries for this game couldn’t have come at a better time. Barring any setbacks during the week of practice both will see action in this Sunday’s matchup against the Saints, who rank 3rd in the NFL in passing offense. Kaboly also noted that in this game we will see the featured matchup between former teammates Antonio Brown and Keenan Lewis. Lewis, now the starting CB for the Saints, played four seasons for the Steelers from 2009-2012 before leaving in free agency.
