Steelers vs Bengals = Footlong

CBS Sports analyst/weasel Jason La Canfora ranks the watchability of each week’s games based on a scale of sandwiches. He calls the Cincy game for the Steelers a “footlong” and describes the Steelers as a “troubling bunch.” He says to watch for if the Steelers offense comes out to a slow start like they did last week against the Saints and if Bengals quarterback Andy Dalton can overcome his tendency to throw picks. Also, he raises an important question on just who on the Steelers’ secondary is going to be able to match up effectively with Bengals WR A.J. Green? Good question.

Cam Heyward on leading in Keisel’s place

Teresa Varley caught up with Steelers defensive end Cameron Heyward and asked him if he was ready to step into the leadership role on the defense now left vacant by Brett Keisel. She asked if he’s been trying to develop himself as a leader or if he thinks he’ll have to do it more now that Keisel has been placed on IR.

"“I am just going to try to lead by example and encouragement. I am not going to replace Brett Keisel, but I can be my own kind of leader. If that means keeping guys accountable, keeping myself accountable and leading by example, that is what I will do.” – Cam Heyward"

James Harrison, Marcus Gilbert sidelined with injury

After Friday’s practice the Steelers have downgraded right tackle Marcus Gilbert to “Out” with an ankle injury he’s still unable to recover from, according to ESPN’s Scott Brown. Gilbert is missing his second consecutive game and third overall this season. Mike Adams is set to start in his place again. Also unlikely to suit up against the Bengals on Sunday is LB James Harrison, who suffered a knee injury in Sunday’s loss to New Orleans. Harrison hasn’t practiced all week and his status is “Doubtful” as of Friday afternoon. The Steelers expect to get back Jarvis Jones this weekend and will most likely use him and Arthur Moats in combination to replace Harrison.
