Steelers Roethlisberger Takes Shot From Chris Rock

The Steelers, at least Ben Roethlisberger, might not be a fan of comedian Chris Rock if they were prior to Tuesday evening.

While promoting his movie, Top Five, Rock made the following statement, “I was getting ready to say something really bad about Roethlisberger.  He’s the original Cosby.”

Ok, so let’s put this into context a little bit before anyone gets too upset.  Firstly, it’s Chris Rock – a comedian who’s been known to shoot off his mouth on just about anything no matter incendiary it might be.  Secondly, he’s in Baltimore.  You know, the cesspool of America after New Jersey and Cleveland.  He’s obviously smart enough to play to the crowd.  He knew he would get that kind of reaction.  I highly doubt  he would say something like that in Kansas City, or heck, Pittsburgh.

Rock is obviously referring to the two separate cases where Roethlisberger was accused of sexually assaulting a woman, the latest occurring back in 2010 in a Georgia night club that summer.  Ben took the fall for those allegations by serving a three game (knocked down from six) suspension that season, though he was never formally charged by either woman nor by police.

In comparison, Bill Cosby is accused of drugging and raping a young woman who also just happened to be a minor.  He too has yet to be formally charged of these allegations… but the line of women is getting longer and longer by the day.

Either way, it’s a pretty classless swipe at Ben (or anyone who has been accused of assault).  Sexual assault of women is not really funny.  But, that’s just Chris Rock for you.  I doubt many Yinzers will be lining up to see his movie any time soon…. and that was probably before he said anything about Roethlisberger.
