Steelers Roster Move, Polamalu Nominated, Beating Themselves

The Pittsburgh Steelers will travel to Atlanta for their final road game of the 2014 season to face the Falcons. Steelers add cornerback
The Steelers have made a defensive back change to their practice squad, reports ESPN’s Scott Brown. Tuesday evening the team signed cornerback Kevin Fogg and released safety Jordan Dangerfield. Last week the Steelers placed Cortez Allen on season-ending IR with an arm injury and might not have Ike Taylor available in practice with his shoulder and forearm injuries. Fogg signed with the Miami Dolphins as an undrafted free agent in June but was released.
Troy Polamalu Nomination
The NFL is giving out the first annual NFL Sportsmanship Award this season and the player is to be announced at the NFL Honors before Super Bowl XLIX. Each team nominated a player for the first-time award and the Steelers selected Troy Polamalu as their nominee. The winner will be determined by a panel of former players from the NFL Legends Community including Warrick Dunn, Curtis Martin, Karl Mecklenburg and Leonard Wheeler. The award is intended to be presented to the NFL player who best demonstrates the qualities of on-field sportsmanship.
Steelers can’t beat themselves
For the Steelers remaining three games their schedule includes the Falcons, Chiefs and Bengals. But, as Ed Bouchette of the PPG explains, their biggest opponent will be themselves if they want to be a for real playoff contender. When the Steelers are playing well and all units are on the same page, they’ve been very good, but when they’re off they’ve lost to teams like the Jets, Buccaneers, Browns, and Saints, and done so badly. The biggest part of the reasons for their losses to those teams were turnovers, giving them up and not getting any. That’s going to have to be their main focus for these final three games or their playoff chances will pass them by.
