Steelers Playoff Push, Praise for Gay, Bell MVP

The Steelers head into their final home stand of the season with their sights set on an AFC North Title. Youngsters want playoffs
The Steelers are in a way better position right now than they were this time last season. While not out of the playoff hunt, they had to spend the final weeks of the season doing an awful lot of scoreboard watching to see their playoff hopes play out in other stadiums. This time around, things are different. As ESPN’s Scott Brown explains, it’s different on the roster as well. Twenty players on the Steelers roster have never participated in a playoff game before and only 18 have played in a playoff game for the Steelers previously. Steelers coach Mike Tomlin is keeping an eye on the younger guys and watching how they prepare for the task of clinching their first-ever playoff berth.

Walter Payton NFL Man of the Year
Not only is Steelers cornerback William Gay getting recognition for becoming the first Steelers player to have three interceptions returned for touchdowns in one season, but he’s also been nominated as the team’s Walter Payton NFL Man of the Year, according to Teresa Varley. Tomlin describes Gay as a solid contributor to the team.

He does a nice job of keeping plays at bay and minimizing negativity. He is always in good position. His eyes are good. I am glad he is getting some of the recognition he deserves for good, solid play.” – Mike Tomlin"
Bell for MVP?
Ben Roethlisberger had his usual Tuesday spot on the 93.7 The Fan mid-morning show and, among other topics, he announced his support to make a case for Le’Veon Bell as the league’s MVP this season. Bell may finish behind Dallas’ DeMarco Murray in rushing yards but he could easily take the title of most yards from scrimmage for a running back based on his receiving yards and catches. What Bell has meant to this Steelers offense this season sure is valuable.
