Balancing Act
The Pittsburgh Steelers offense has been at time this season, wildly inconsistent. As the Trib’s Mark Kaboly explains, they’re finding their balance at precisely the right time. The Falcons went out last week with the clear objective to stop Le’Veon Bell and the Steelers running game. The fact that that didn’t cripple the Steelers offense and they were still able to finish drives and win the game proves that the offense is about as balanced as you can get. Doesn’t hurt to have Ben Roethlisberger, Bell, and Antonio Brown as part of that balanced offense, either.
Ever-changing Defense
While the Steelers offense is finding their balance, the defensive unit is finding that they’re in constant motion with movable parts so far this season. Mike Prisuta points out that for last week’s game against the Falcons, five players who didn’t start the regular season opener were now starters. Sometimes it’s been the case of injury such as Brett Keisel going out presenting starting opportunities for Stephon Tuitt and other times it’s just a matter of finding out what works, like putting in Sean Spence and Vince Williams in rotation on the inside.
Antonio Brown is insane
ESPN’s Scott Brown explains that with the pace Steelers WR Antonio Brown is on this season, he could end up with 131 catches and 1,712 receiving yards. That’s a ridiculous amount of yardage for a guy who’s constantly double-covered. To put it into even more ridiculous perspective, Brown already has 115 receptions for 1,498 yards (both leading the NFL) and in comparison, the entire receiving corps of the Kansas City Chiefs have a combination of 110 receptions for 1,370 yards. Insane.
